Like many who have grown up with parents working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs I have lived an interesting and rather unique life. [ if you have not seen my UGPulse People Profile, Click Here]

Having grown up in international schools in a number of African countries including Central African Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, my home Uganda, as well as visited a number of African countries, I have been exposed to much of the diversity that Africa has to offer. Living in the United States has further broadened my experiences of different cultures. What I find amazing is how much we are all the same, and what makes us different from each other is perceptions brought on by not only how much we know about each other but by how we gather information on each other. For example most tourists never get a real clue about the places they visit. Often it takes more than a visit to totally understand a people. The good and the bad.

UGPulse.com is an attempt to get the audience to feel the heartbeat of a vibrant place called Uganda. UG is East African slang for "Uganda".

UGPulse.com aims at uniting the Diaspora with the wanainchi on the web in the hope of creating opportunities for all involved. The site also hopes to serve as a research center for anyone looking for information on Uganda or Africa.

M
y love for art, writing and music is what defines me. I was born in Moscow, Russia (Black Russian) and raised in France, Denmark, Uganda, Cuba and Canada, where I currently live. Because of that, and also because it’s a trait I have inherited from my father Truman, I love languages. I speak French, English, Spanish, Danish, Luganda and some Russian. I am learning Chinese right now. That makes me a global child. Living in all those countries has given me a multicultural sense of identity, so I am a piece of all those countries. I fit anywhere easily. I am very proud of being Ugandan, the country which is the source of the Nile, has the Mountains of the Moons (Ruwenzori), the equator and part of the biggest lake in Africa- Lake Victoria. UGPULSE is a venue for me to display to the rest of the world what wealth Uganda has as far as its talent and so I interview many of its visual artists, writers and musicians. UGPULSE a natural fit for me.

UGP
ulse is one hell of a good site. I would recommend to any serious reader and those who cannot do without information on Uganda. I was introduced to UGPulse by a good friend of mine, Mr. Kisuze Stephen who literally discovered my writing skills, which were idle at the time! Steve is a buddy of one of UGPulse’s first writers. [Click here to see our first article at UGPulse.] I appreciate UGPulse for giving me the opportunity to write on a wider scope.

My thirst for news and passion for reading has made me a better writer out of myself. I joined UGPulse at its infancy and I am proud of what its looks like now. As part of the team I would like to see it grow further and be an online magazine to reckon with. I would like it to be more accessible to Ugandans in and out of this country and be an informative, entertaining, analytical and news worthy online magazine with balanced stories ready to take Uganda and the world by storm for its good reputation. I would also like to see more journalists get on board and more people join the Emboozi Forums to discuss our country's future.

Even a journey of a thousand miles needs a first step…
